Regality and the Velvet Bedspread
Michalis 'BIG Mike' Kotzakolios
Velvet is probably only rivaled by satin as the top bedspread fabric on the market. A velvet bedspread adds that little something that is missing from a bedroom. Sometimes, it is those little things that make the biggest difference. Subtlety is usually enough to make a big difference. So, if one is looking for that special something to mark a difference in a room, then a velvet bedspread may be that something.
Why is velvet considered so special? Because velvet traces its origins in the middle ages to its use by European nobles and royalty. If royalty are the ones endorsing a product, then you know its popularity is going to skyrocket. In fact, it will skyrocket more than if a major league baseball player endorsed it. Okay, baseball came about much later than the middle ages, and when it did, uniforms weren’t made with velvet, but you get the idea. (And, then again, maybe velvet baseball uniforms are forthcoming in the near future. You never know)
Non-use by major league baseball not withstanding, velvet, particularly a velvet bedspread, is a tremendous visual treat. Now, the actual fabric and material of velvet is durable and of a high quality, which is an added bonus, but the visual appearance of a velvet bedspread will totally add to the allure of interior décor. As such, it is no surprise that the velvet bedspread has seen its popularity take off. A true idea as to how popular bedspreads are can be seen in its repeated features in the numerous magazines on the market that cover such matters. When a magazine with a circulation of over a million readers provides an endorsement, you know that the product is about as A-level as you can get. So next time you shop for a bedspread, make your choice a velvet bedspread.
